The trust gap

When a customer sees yourname.smartrestro.pro in their browser bar, they think: "What is SmartRestro? Is this real? Did I land somewhere shady?" When they see order.yourrestaurant.com, they think: "OK, this is the restaurant's website. I trust it."

Same software underneath. Different perception. Different conversion rate.

The SEO compound effect

Search engines treat your custom domain as YOUR business. Every order, every review, every backlink builds authority for your brand — not for SmartRestro. After 6 months you start ranking for "biryani near me" because your domain has accumulated trust signals tied to your name.

If you stay on the subdomain, all that SEO equity goes to SmartRestro instead. Useless for you.

What you need before starting

  1. A registered domain name. If you don't have one, buy from Namecheap, GoDaddy, or Hostinger. Cost: ~$10/year for .com, ~Rs. 1,500/year for .pk
  2. Access to your domain's DNS settings (whoever sold you the domain shows you this in their panel)
  3. An active SmartRestro account

The setup, step by step

  1. Open SmartRestro owner dashboard → Settings → Custom Domain
  2. Type the domain you want (e.g. order.yourrestaurant.com — subdomain is recommended, easier to manage than apex)
  3. Click Save. You'll get DNS records to add (a CNAME pointing to smartrestro.pro)
  4. In your domain provider's DNS panel, add the CNAME record exactly as shown
  5. Wait 5–60 minutes for DNS to propagate
  6. Click "Verify & Activate" in the dashboard. Our system auto-issues a free SSL certificate (Let's Encrypt) and configures everything

That's it. Your customer ordering page is now live at your domain.

About the SSL certificate

We auto-issue and auto-renew. Every 90 days, the cert refreshes overnight without you doing anything. Zero downtime, zero cost, zero "expired certificate" warnings.

What to do after activation

  1. Update your Instagram bio link to the new domain
  2. Print fresh menu cards / flyers with the new URL
  3. Tell Google My Business to use the new "Order Online" link
  4. Set up a 301 redirect (we do it automatically) from the old .smartrestro.pro URL so any old links still work
